Make the device list first

List each device, its operating power or energy per charge, and expected use. Separate continuous loads from intermittent use. Do not infer a refrigerator’s daily energy from its nameplate watts alone, because its duty cycle and conditions matter.

EcoFlow’s explanation of power and energy distinguishes output watts from stored watt-hours. It is a vendor source for interpreting terms, not independent evidence that one brand outperforms another.

Work through an explicit example

The following numbers are fictional teaching inputs, not measured consumption from named products.

Illustrative load Assumed use Energy
LED light 5 W for 4 hours 20 Wh
Small fan 10 W for 6 hours 60 Wh
Phone charging 15 Wh delivered twice 30 Wh
Total delivered energy Before losses and reserve 110 Wh

The arithmetic is 20 + 60 + 30 = 110 Wh. This is the energy delivered to the assumed loads. It is not a recommendation to buy a battery labeled 110 Wh, because losses, available capacity and reserve have not been quantified.

Check the power and charging limits separately

A station can store enough energy yet be unable to supply a device’s required power. Read continuous output, any starting-load guidance and per-port limits. Product-specific boost modes should not be treated as interchangeable with ordinary rated operation.

The EcoFlow glossary provides vendor definitions for these terms. Use the exact manual for compatibility, ventilation, temperature and charging instructions. A solar panel’s headline output does not establish what will be harvested at a particular campsite.

What a measured runtime claim would require

A future test would record the unit, firmware, temperature, outlet, load behavior, starting charge and shutdown criterion. Repeated runs would show variation. Recharge tests would also state the source and conditions.

We have not performed those tests. Download the energy-budget worksheet, replace the fictional inputs with documented or measured values and keep uncertainty visible. For a different battery-powered category, read electric-unicycle range claims; its operating requirements should not be transferred from a camping power station.
