Start with the person using the chair
Write down the seat height, width and back support you need. Think about how the chair will be entered and exited, not only how it looks when occupied. A low beach position may be inconvenient for someone who needs a higher seat.

Compare the whole carried package

A shoulder strap, backpack arrangement and hand carry are different options. Consider the distance and other items being carried, including whether hands need to stay free for the route.
Read the mechanism and load instructions
Check how the chair opens, locks and reclines. Follow the specified surface and loading guidance. Keep fingers clear of moving joints according to the instructions, and do not treat a partially engaged mechanism as ready for use.
A load rating is not permission to use the chair as a step, passenger platform or general equipment rack. Inspect the condition before use and follow the manufacturer’s replacement or service advice for damage.
Evaluate comfort without pretending it is universal
